Those who are familiar with markdown can also play with it in Alternote.

Other editing options that can be accessed from the quick menu are bold, italic, insert link, ordered and unordered list, and checkmark. But you need to shift the mindset from notebook-based to tag-based organization to get the most of EvernoteвЂ™s advanced searching ability. When IвЂ™m done, I copy the full text of the note. If the site will take formatting and reproduce it, like the new WordPress Editor, I turn on Markdown to write the blog post.
